Day 5
 |
1 pm We arrive in Venice. We board the water taxi to Piazza San Marco (St. Mark's square) and find it's crawling with tons of tourists. From every country. We hear English, French, German...which makes our Mission 2: Find a local pretty darn challenging! We figure the trick is to head away from the tourist traps, and into the maze of narrow, twisted Venice side streets. It's like a labyrinth. We get some Italian lira as we travel through the streets. |

| After walking around the side
streets for a few hours, we eventually realize that we are... - Erick: "...exploring." - Kevino: "...geo-challenged." - Darren: "..lost." Along the
way, we do see what we think are locals, but with all the tourists around, it's tough to
be sure.

We decide that we should check out
a local violin concert to be cultured, and there are bound to be some locals there!
Sure enough, we meet Claudia, the friendly usher, who also gives us some free concert
posters. Mission 2:

There are some novelties:
- Gelato, the soft Italian ice cream. Reminds Kevino of Hogi Yogi; he tries hazelnut, tiramisu, creme caramel, and berry.

Italian coffee is awesome and is what inspired Starbucks in the first place. Five
stars.
