LA Bike Tour 2002
Figuring it'd be less painful than the LA Marathon, I borrow my bro's bike to try the 25-mile Bike Tour, along the same new, revised-for-02 marathon route. 
Mental race-day notes:  5 am:  Wake up waaay too early to wake up on Sunday morning. Scarf Cheerios and head to the race route at USC.   6 am: start race - it's dark out, freezing.  Shoulda brought gloves.  Avoid near-clipping accident; so...

I sympathize with Ohno's Gold clipping.  5 miles: warming up, good.  12 miles, Sunrise surprise! It's so bring, I shoulda brought shades!  16 miles: pace off this dude Steve.  We chat about forgetting shades, the race, collectible Matchbox cars and whether the new WB X-Men Evolution is better than the Fox X-Men cartoon.  Mile 25: Or so I thought.  Turns out there's an

At the end of the race, I grab my shades from the car.
extra 2 miles for the bikers.  Last Mile:  Finish at last!  Stretch down in the post-race party area, gulp 3 cups of free Gatorade, listen to a band, and sign up for a reality TV show at NBC's Reality Casting booth.  This is LA after all.  Good race.
