City Ratings
Here's a quick review of some of the major cities, ranked alphabetically.
 - Paris ranks at the best city overall thanks to its ambiance, attractions, affordability and nice weather
(Language note: T-Eng. = people in tourism industry (hotels, cabs, restaurants, attractions) speak English, while only a few in the general public speak English).

Comments:

  • Ambiance: Italian cities (Rome, Venice, Florence) and U.S. cities (LA, NY) are all missing parks spread throughout the city, so they don't get a Park.   London and LA aren't walkable (require the Tube or a car to really see the city), so they lose a Walkability
  • Attractions: includes ruins, museums, towers, castles, tombs, cathedrals, bridges, beaches, zoos
  • Cost: This is tourist-on-a-budget costs, not living costs.  For example: while LA has high living costs (high rent, car, car insurance), its tourist costs are reasonable (free beaches, free attractions like walking around Hollywood, free Getty museum, and cheap fast food.  etc.)
  • OVERALL:  Cities with $$$$$$ or (New York, London) loose an Overall
