Glasgow
GALA IN GLASGOW, KINDA

Glasgow has the rep of being Scotland's former industrial town, turning trendy with nightlife.  I fly from Belfast to Glasgow, just in time to catch part of Glasgow's Golden Jubilee.

Glasgow's City Hall square, decorated for the Jubilee

Some friends in my apartment building from Glasgow suggest I spend only a few hours there and then head immediately for more scenic Edinburgh.   They're right.  So here's my three hours in Glasgow.

Museum of Religious Art
Randomly enough, there's a religious museum which collects artifacts from various world religions.  It's a nice break to see objects and artwork from Hindu, Buddhism, Islam in addition to Christianity and Judaism, all under one roof.

Then I take the hour-train from Glasgow to Edinburgh.

TV broadcasts Golden Jubilee to a mostly empty city hall square.  Guess not all Glasgow's pop is too excited about the Queen.

Golden Jubilee banners; with Scottish patterns so they don't get pissed.
