PISA PIZZA PITSTOP
On the way from Cinque Terre to Rome, we
stop off in Pisa for a quick look at the Leaning Tower of Pisa.
|
Leaning Tower of Pisa |
 |
The
Tower was built right next to an impressive duomo and basilica, as a nice
set of three. But when the Tower's to lean thanks to a soft foundation, the
Tower became a hit. But then, too many tourists helped |
 |
|
increase the lean. So the Tower was closed to visitors for several
years, its base encased in scaffolding. In late 2001, stabilizing
repairs were actually finished, and the Tower is now open to visitors for
€15. |

Jen at the nearby Basilica, which is
impressive. If only it had a lean, it could be famous too.
Unfortunately, the next scheduled Tower appointment
time is more than 2 hours away, when we should be on our train to Rome.
So we save the Tower trip for another day and continue on to
Rome. |

We grab a quick pizza snack in view of the
Leaning Tower of Pisa. |
