GETTING READY: VISAs
, part 2 of 3

Because I need to get visas from several countries quickly, I decide to book a flight to San Francisco to visit the consulates for India, Russia and Egypt, and visit my cousin David who I saw at the Toronto reunion.  I end up getting the India visa the same day!

While I'm in San Francisco, I dash over to the Golden Gate bridge, a Modern Wonder of the World.  The bridge is enveloped in a soothing fog.

In San Francisco, I get a same-day $60 India visa and the Egypt consulate tells me I can get a visa at the airport.  The tough one is Russia: you need a letter from a travel agency, tourist agency and fax from a sponsoring hotel giving the dates/reasons of your stay.  Too much trouble; too bad; I nix Moscow off the itinerary.
